As per current rules for PPF accounts for minors, the parent/guardian can deposit any amount subject to ceiling of Rs1.5 lakhs per annum for amount deposited in his/her own PPF a/c and accounts of his/her minor children put together. Can a grand parent deposit amount as gift into the minor (his/her grandchildren) subject to usual ceiling of Rs 1.5 lakhs for any PPF a/c ?. As the gift amount is exempted in the hands of grandchild and interest on PPF a/c is exempted from income tax, there will be no tax liability for parent of minor also?  Regulators RBI, SEBI etc
