Prashant Jha (Bar  and  Bench) 30 July 2024
Trainee Indian Administrative Service (IAS) office Puja Khedkar has approached the Delhi's Patiala House Court seeking anticipatory bail after she was booked for allegedly faking her identity to avail attempts at Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams beyond permissible limit.

The matter was listed before Additional Sessions Judge (ASJ) Devender Kumar Jangala today.

However, the Delhi Police told the Court that a Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) has been appointed to argue the matter and he will be available tomorrow.

The Court then adjourned the case to Wednesday.

Judge Jangala said that the matter will be heard on Wednesday at 10 AM.

The Delhi Police lodged the case against Khedkar on a complaint filed by the UPSC. The Commission had also issued her a show cause notice.

Khedkar is accused of misusing quotas under Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities to clear the UPSC exams.

According to a report by NDTV, Khedkar's father Dilip Khedkar is a former Maharashtra government officer who is now facing a corruption case and has been suspended twice in the past over related charges, including extortion.

Her mother Manorama Khedkar is a sarpanch who is also in trouble after a video showed her brandishing a gun and threatening a group of people.
