SEBI Launches SCORES 2.0 To Redress Investor Complaints with Efficiency
Moneylife Digital Team 01 April 2024
To strengthen the investor complaint redress mechanism by making the process more efficient through auto-routing, auto-escalation, monitoring by the designated bodies and reduction of timelines, market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has launched a second version of its SEBI Complaints Redress System (SCORES 2.0). SCORES is an online system where investors in the securities market can lodge their complaints through a web URL (scores.sebi.gov.in ) and an app.

With the second version of SCORES, SEBI says, there will be a reduced and uniform timeline (of 21 days from the date of receipt of complaint) for redressal of investor complaints across the securities market. It also introduced auto-routing of complaints to the concerned regulated entity to eliminate time lapses, if any, in the flow of complaints.

SCORES 2.0 provides two levels for review. The first review is by the designated body if the investor is dissatisfied with the resolution provided by the concerned regulated entity, and the second review is by SEBI if the investor is still dissatisfied after the first review.

SEBI also introduced auto-escalation of complaints to the next level in case of non-adherence to the prescribed timelines by the regulated entity or the designated body, as the case may be.

The new platform also integrates with know-your-customer (KYC) registration agency (KRA) database for easy registration of the investor onto SCORES.

The platform has become active and will register all new complaints from https://scores.sebi.gov.in. However, SEBI says investors can check the status of their complaints that have already been lodged and are pending in the old SCORES (https://scores.gov.in). Further, the disposed complaints filed in the old SCORES can be viewed at SCORES 2.0, the market regulator says.
