Nifty, Sensex trend higher – Wednesday closing report

We had mentioned in Tuesday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex may continue to rise. On Wednesday, the indices opened higher and closed with decent gains. On the NSE, there were 609 advances, 1,408 declines and 0 unchanged.

Vodafone Idea CEO Nick Read said the telecom major will not be infusing fresh equity into debt-ridden Vodafone Idea.
 
The Competition Commission approved Carlyle Group's proposed Rs 4,000-crore investment in PNB Housing Finance. The matter is still pending with the Securities Appellate Tribunal.
 
State Bank of India reported consolidated profit of Rs 7,380 crore during the quarter ended 30 June 2021, up 54% from Rs 4,776 crore in the year-ago period. Net interest income rose 3.61% to Rs 30,710.86 crore compared to Rs 29,638.65 crore in the year-ago quarter.
 
Adani Green Energy reported nearly five-fold growth in its consolidated net profit at Rs 219 crore compared to Rs 45 crore in the year ago period. Revenue grew 26% to Rs 977 crore from Rs 778 crore in the previous year.
 
Godrej Consumer Products reported consolidated profit of Rs 414 crore in the April-June 2021 quarter compared to Rs 394.9 crore in the year ago quarter. Revenue jumped by 24.4% to Rs 2,894.4 crore from Rs 2,327.3 crore in the same period last year.
 
IIFL Wealth consolidated net profit rose 43% to Rs 116.85 crore from Rs 82.27 crore during the year-ago period. Revenue went up by 9.47% to Rs 382.55 crore in the same period compared to Rs 349.46 crore in the year-ago period.
 
Essel Group Chairman Subhash Chandra said that he has settled 91.2% of the debt to 43 lenders.
 
Sonata Software reported consolidated profit of Rs 86.73 crore, up 73.74% from Rs 49.92 crore in the year ago period. Revenue from operations grew 33% to Rs 1,268 crore from Rs 952 crore in the previous year.
 
Tata Consumer Products consolidated net profit dipped to Rs 185 crore in the quarter ended June 2021 compared to Rs 328 crore in the year ago quarter. Revenue grew 11% to Rs 3,008 crore versus Rs 2,714 crore in the year ago period.
 
Bosch reported consolidated net profit of Rs 260.3 crore compared to a loss of Rs 121.5 crore in the year-ago period. Revenue more than doubled to Rs 2,443.5 crore from Rs 991.5 crore in the year-ago quarter.
