Nifty, Sensex snaps 5-day winning streak; ends flat– Friday Closing Report

We had mentioned in Thursday’s closing report that Nifty and Sensex may take a breather. On Friday, the indices opened gap down and ended flat. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), 1,173 stocks advanced, 853 declined, and 45 remained unchanged with advance decline ratio of 1.38.
 
The trend of the major indices on Friday’s trading are given in the table below:
 
 
HDFC Bank closed 1% higher ahead of its Q3FY21-22 earning reports to be released on 15 Jan. Mindtree share closed 4% down even after it declared good Q3FY21-22 results. 
 
Coastal Corporation share priced closed 20% for 2nd day as sea food prices have risen.
 
Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation closed 20% higher after taking price hike in lignite segment which is expected to improve performance.
 
Cosmo Films share closed 10% higher as the company has planned a capital expenditure of Rs 100 crore in film and chemical business for next year.
 
Motherson Sumi Systems closed 21% lower as the stock is trading ex-domestic wiring business. The record date for demerger is set for demerger is 17 Jan.
 
HAL share closed more than 3.5% higher after rating agency ICRA upgraded company’s long-term rating to AAA from AA+ and revised outlook to stable from positive.
 
Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd (ABFRL) is set to acquire 51% stake in brand 'Masaba' promoted by the leading designer Masaba Gupta for a cash consideration of Rs 90 crore.
 
The WPI (wholesale price index) inflation has eased to 13.56% in the month of December as compared to 14.23% in November.
 
Glenmark Pharmaceutical’s wholly owned subsidiary Swiss subsidiary Glenmark Specialty S.A. has received USFDA nod for its nasal spray fixed dose prescription drug for seasonal allergic rhinitis Ryaltris.
