Nifty, Sensex may give up some gains – Thursday closing report

We had mentioned in Wednesday’s closing report that Nifty, Sensex were trending higher. On Thursday, the indices were a bit volatile but ended with minor gains. On the NSE, there were 609 advances, 1,408 declines and 0 unchanged.

Vodafone Idea informed that Kumar Mangalam Birla was stepping down as non-executive director and non-executive chairman of the board with immediate effect.
 
Reliance Industries will be doubling its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling capacity to 5 billion by setting up a facility in Andhra Pradesh. 
 
Adani Transmission reported 13% rise in net profit at Rs 435 crore compared to Rs 384 crore YoY. Revenue grew 16% to Rs 2,830 crore against Rs 2,447 crore YoY.
 
SBI Life Insurance stakeholder US private equity fund CA Emerald Investments plans to offload its entire 1.9% stake in the insurer for Rs 1,130-Rs 1,136.85.
 
Caplin Point Laboratories reported consolidated net profit of Rs 70.9 crore for the quarter ended 30 June 2021 compared to Rs 54.5 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year. Its Revenue from operations grew 25.1% at Rs 300.4 crore against Rs 240 crore in the previous year.
 
SML Isuzu net loss narrowed to Rs 33.4 crore YoY basis compared to Rs 52.3 crore in the previous year. Revenue grew to Rs 100 crore compared to Rs 28.7 crore, YoY.
 
Gail India consolidated net profit grew to Rs 2,138 crore against Rs 654 crore in the year ago period. Revenue grew 44% YoY to Rs 17,571 crore against Rs 12,174 crore in the previous year.
 
Escorts reported net profit at Rs 178.5 crore, while revenue came in at Rs 1,671.5 crore. Its EBITDA stood at Rs 233.2 crore.
 
Jindal Steel & Power reported 5% year on year rise in steel sales to 6.7 lakh tonnes as compared to 6.4 lakh tonnes during the same month in the previous year.
 
Birla Corporation consolidated net profit doubled to Rs 141.5 crore against Rs 66 crore YoY. Revenue was up 43.1% at Rs 1,749 crore versus Rs 1,222 crore, YoY.
 
Tata Chemicals consolidated net profit jumped to Rs 288 crore against Rs 13 crore YoY. Revenue from operations grew to Rs 2,977 crore compared to Rs 2,348 crore YoY.
 
B L Kashyap & Sons has bagged new projects worth Rs 189.85 crore in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
