Nifty, Sensex Keep Pushing Higher – Wednesday Closing Report

On Wednesday, the indices opened flat and ended with gain. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), advance decline ratio was at 0.58 indicating negative closing of most of the stocks.
 
The trend of the major indices on Wednesday’s trading are given in the table below:
 
 
On NSE, 48 securities advanced and closed at new 52 week high whereas 13 securities sank to close at their new 52-week lows. In sectorial indices Nifty Auto and Nifty Pharma were the biggest losers whereas Nifty IT and Nifty Financial Services were the biggest gainers. The broader market indices again underperformed their larger peers after 2 days of outperformance.
 
The BSE Midcap and BSE Small cap ended 0.6% and 0.28% down respectively.
 
Rupee fell sharply after record trade deficit. It closed at 79.16/$ compared to 78.71/$ yesterday.
 
Eurozone’s July Services PMI was at 51.2 as compared to composite PMI at 49.9. India’s July Services PMI was declined to 55.5 as compared to 59.2 in June 2022 and the composite PMI was at 56.6 as compared to 58.2 m-o-m.
 
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has claimed Rs 2,217 crore of customs duty evasion by Vivo Mobile India. 
 
AU Small Finance Bank’s promoter group will sell 75 lakh shares in the bank i.e., a stake of 4.2%.
 
In quarterly results, Devyani International’s Q1FY22-23 revenue almost doubled to Rs 704.7 crore, and profit was at Rs 74.7 crore as compared to loss of Rs 33.4 crore.
 
Adani Wilmar’s Q1FY22-23 revenue was up 30.2% to Rs 14,731 crore and profit grew by just 10.19% to Rs 193 crore on a y-o-y basis. 
 
IndiGo’s Q1FY22-23 revenue jumped multifold to Rs 12,855 crore from Rs 3,007 crore and net loss narrowed to Rs 1,064 crore from Rs 3,174 crore on a y-o-y basis.
 
Adani Power’s Q1FY22-23 revenue more than doubled at Rs 13,723 crore and profit jumped multifold to Rs 4,780 crore. Margin was at 41.7% as compared to 25.1% y-o-y.
 
Birlasoft’s Q1FY22-23 revenue was up 4.8% to Rs 1,154 crore and profit declined by 9.1% to Rs 120.7 crore on a q-o-q basis.
 
BSE’s Q1FY22-23 revenue was up 19.1% to Rs 186 crore and net profit was down 22.8% to Rs 40 crore.
 
Tata Coffee reported Q1FY22-23 revenue at Rs 662 crore up 24.3% y-o-y and net profit at 45 crore up 60.7%.
 
Triveni Engineering’s Q1FY22-23 revenue was up by 22.5% at Rs 1,361 crore and profit declined by 28% to Rs 66.4 crore on a y-o-y basis.
 
Godrej Consumer’s Q1FY22-23 revenue was up 8% to Rs 3,125 crore and profit declined 16.6% to Rs 345 crore on a y-o-y basis.
