NHPC Q3 net profit up nearly 50% to Rs311.77 crore

The company is current engaged in 10 power projects with a total capacity of 4,502 MW and is in process of setting up two solar power projects as well

NHPC, the government-owned hydro power producer, reported a net profit of Rs311.77 crore in the December 2012 quarter, which was 46.94% higher than its net profit in the corresponding period last year. Similarly, NHPC's total income climbed 10.53% to Rs1,199.39 crore from Rs 1,085.13 crore in the year-ago period.

 

The current financial result was attributed to cyclical nature of business and therefore was not comparable to previous results, according to NHPC.

 

NHPC is currently engaged in the construction of ten projects having a total capacity of 4,502 MW.

 

In the capacity addition, the power producer has commissioned 264 MW which includes 231 MW Chamera-III and 33 MW (3x11) of Chutak hydroelectric projects. Besides, one unit of 15 MW of Nimoo Bazgo Hydroelectric Project was synchronized at available load on 11 October 2012. Mechanical spinning of Unit nos. II & I of TLDP-III hydroelectric project was also achieved on 20 December 2012 and 24 December 2012 respectively.

 

Consultancy works of renovation, modernisation and updating of Varzob hydro power plant, Tazakistan was successfully completed by the company. Subsequently, the plant was re-inaugurated on 28 December 2012.

 

The company’s board also approved setting up of two grid connected solar power projects and grid connected wind power projects up to installed capacity of 50 MW each in India.
