IndiGo Slapped with Rs115.86 Crore GST Penalty
Moneylife Digital Team 06 February 2025
InterGlobe Aviation Ltd (IndiGo) says it has fined Rs115.86 crore by goods and service tax (GST) authorities from Delhi and Chennai.

In a regulatory filing, IndiGo says the penalty of Rs113.02 crore has been levied by the additional commissioner of central GST from Delhi on services provided to offshore recipients and held that it is not an export of services. The commissioner also denied input tax credit (ITC) on certain services offered by IndiGo during FY17-18.

The remaining Rs2.84 crore penalty is imposed by the joint commissioner of GST and central excise from Chennai denying ITC due to a mismatch for FY17-18, FY18-19, and FY19-20.

"The company is in the process of contesting the orders before the appropriate appellate authority," IndiGo says, adding, "There is no material impact on financials, operations or other activities of the company."
