Indian Forces Neutralise Pakistan Air Defence after Cross-border Escalation, Reiterates Non-escalatory Stand
Moneylife Digital Team 09 May 2025
A day after India termed its military action under 'Operation Sindoor' as 'measured and non-escalatory', Pakistani forces attempted a large-scale strike on Indian military targets in the northern and western regions. The Indian ministry of defence (MoD) confirmed that Pakistan used drones and missiles to engage multiple military installations across states, including Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Punjab, Rajasthan and Gujarat.

According to MoD, the attempted strikes between the night of 7th and 8 May 2025 were aimed at sensitive locations such as Awantipura, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Adampur and Bhuj, among others. However, India’s integrated counter UAS (unmanned aerial systems) grid and air defence systems successfully neutralised the aerial threats. Debris from the intercepted attacks is now being recovered as material evidence of Pakistani aggression.

In response, India launched a calibrated counter-strike early on Thursday morning, specifically targeting air defence radars and systems at multiple locations inside Pakistan. Defence sources confirmed that an air defence system in Lahore has been neutralised. The Indian response, the MoD stated, is 'in the same domain and intensity' as Pakistan's attempted escalation.

Simultaneously, Pakistan has ramped up unprovoked cross-border firing across the line of control (LoC), using mortars and heavy artillery in areas such as Kupwara, Uri, Poonch and Rajouri. The shelling has claimed 16 civilian lives, including three women and five children.

The Indian armed forces, while responding to halt Pakistani fire, reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided Pakistan respects the principle. MoD stated that India's response is rooted in self-defence and deterrence and warned that any attack on Indian military targets will invite a suitable response.

Now that Pak has tried to attack military installations in India we are within our right to escalate. Go for the kill and destroy the Terroristan for ever. There should be no Pakistan on the world map. Nuke it, if necessary. 'Laaton ke bhoot baaton se ya warnings se nahi sudherte.'
