India's Omicron tally crosses 1,000-mark, Maharashtra tops with 450 cases

With 309 new cases of highly transmissible Covid variant Omicron detected in the last 24 hours, India's Omicron tally on Friday rose to 1,270 cases. Of total, 374 have been discharged.

Among the 23 states and UTs that have reported the Omicron infection so far, Maharashtra tops the list with 450 cases of this variant. Of them, 125 patients have been discharged as per the health ministry data.

Delhi has the second highest cases of Omicron infection at 320. However, 57 of them have been discharged from the hospital. Delhi is followed by Kerala with 109 Omicron cases. The Union health ministry on Friday morning said that the Omicron infection has so far spread into 23 states and UTs.

Among other states, Gujarat has so far reported 97 Omicron cases and Rajasthan has a total of 69 cases. In Telangana, 62 people have so far tested positive for Omicton while in Tamil Nadu the count stands at 46. Karnataka has logged 34 cases and Andhra Pradesh so far has 16 cases of this variant. Haryana and Odisha have 14 Omicron cases each while West Bengal has reported 11 cases so far.

However, the Omicron case count is in single digit for Madhya Pradesh at 9 and Uttarakhand at 4 cases while Chandigarh and Jammu & Kashmir have 3 cases each. Uttar Pradesh and Andaman and Nicobar Islands have 2 cases so far. Meanwhile, Goa, Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh, Manipur and Punjab have one case each so far.

In the last 24 hours, India registered 13,154 new Covid-19 cases and 268 deaths, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

With the addition of the new fatalities, the total death toll has climbed at 4,80,860.

Meanwhile, the Omicron infection tally has climbed at 961 across the nation, of 320 patients have been discharged from hospitals.

A total of 22 states have reported detecting the new variant, the Ministry confirmed.

Meanwhile, the recovery of 7,486 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,42,58,778. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.38 per cent.

India's active caseload is 82,402, which account for 0.24 per cent of the country's total positive cases.

Also in the same period, a total of 11,99,252 tests were conducted across the country, increasing the total tally to 67.64 crore.

The weekly positivity rate at 0.76 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 46 days now.

The daily positivity rate at 1.10 per cent has also remained below 2 per cent for last 87 days and less than 3 per cent for 122 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 63,91,282 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid inoculation coverage reached 143.83 crore as of Thursday morning.

More than 16.93 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs, said the Ministry.

In the past 24 hours, India registered 9,195 fresh Covid-19 cases, a significant spike from the previous day's figure of 6,358, and 302 deaths, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said on Wednesday.

With the fresh fatalities, the death toll climbed to 4,80,592.

The recovery of 7,347 patients in the same period has increased the cumulative tally to 3,42,51,292. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.40 per cent, highest since March 2020.

Meanwhile, the Omicron infection tally has climbed to 781 across the nation.

Of the total, 241 have been discharged from hospitals after recovery. So far, a total 21 states have detected the new variant, the Ministry added.

India's active Covid-19 caseload is presently at 77,002. Active cases constitute 0.22 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is the lowest since March 2020.

With a total of 11,67,612 tests conducted across the country in the same period, cumulative tests have spiked to over 67.52 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.68 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 45 days now.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.79 per cent, which has also remained below two per cent for last 86 days and less than 3 per cent for 121 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 64,61,321 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 143.15 crore.

The recovery of 6,450 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,42,43,945. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.40 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

India's active caseload is presently at 75,456. Active cases constitute 0.22 per cent of the country's total positive cases, the lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 10,35,495 tests were conducted across the country taking the cumulative tests to over 67.41 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.64 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 44 days now.

3rd time during the pandemic, Mumbai has no COVID-19 deaths

For the third time in almost 22 months, Mumbai recorded zero Covid-19 deaths on Wednesday, even as the new variant Omicron continues to cause concern, officials said.

The previous nil deaths were notched on December 11 and October 17 in the city, and for several weeks, fatalities here have been restricted to single digit figures.

However, the city still continues to record the state's highest number of new infections daily - 238 on December 15, taking the progressive total to 765,934 since the pandemic started in mid-March 2020.

The city has built an impressive recovery rate of 97 percent and an average weekly growth rate of 0.03 percent and doubling rate of 2,514 days.

While no slums or chawls have been sealed for several days now, 15 buildings are currently under the seal to contain the spread of the virus, including those where Bollywood celebs like Kareena Kapoor, Karan Johar, and Amrita Arora live.

Meanwhile, Mumbai, - along with Pune district - has reported the highest 12 Omicron cases, while there is one each in other districts like Thane, Palghar, Latur and Nagpur, with the state total standing at 28 infectees till December 14.

Also in the last 24 hours, 7,995 patients recovered, increasing the cumulative tally to 3,41,38,763. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.37 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

While India's active caseload stood at 88,993, the lowest in 563 days, active cases account for 0.26 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is also the lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 9,50,482 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total figure to over 65.76 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.68 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 30 days now.

Also in the same period, a total of 8,55,692 tests were conducted across the country, pushing the total number to over 65.66 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.69 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 29 days.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.86 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 70 days and less than 3 per cent for 105 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 19,10,917 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, the country's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 133.17 crore as of Monday morning.

India's active caseload presently stands at 93,733, which is lowest in the last 555 days. Active cases constitute 0.27 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

Also, in the same period as many as 12,13,130 tests were conducted taking the cumulative tests so far to over 65.06 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.76 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 24 days now.

Also in the same period, 220 people succumbed to the virus, which increased the overall nationwide death toll to 4,73,757.

The recovery of 10,004 patients has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,79,612. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

India reports 8,306 new COVID cases, 211 deaths in past 24 hours

In the past 24 hours, India registered 8,306 new coronavirus cases and 211 deaths, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare said in its latest update on Monday.

With the addition of the new fatalities, the nationwide death toll has climbed to 4,73,537.

The recovery of 8,834 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,69,608. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

India's active caseload presently stands at 98,416 and active cases account for 0.28 per cent of the country's total positive Cases, which is also the lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 8,86,263 tests were conducted across the country, taking the cumulative total to 64.82 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.78 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 22 days now.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.94 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 63 days and less than 3 per cent for 98 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 24,55,911 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 127.93 crore as of Monday morning.

This has been achieved through 1,32,86,429 sessions.

India on Saturday reported 8,603 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. In the same time span, a total of 415 deaths have also been reported across the nation, said the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Saturday morning. With the addition of 415 new deaths, the death toll has climbed to 4,70,530.

The recovery of 8,190 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of recoveries to 3,40,53,856. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, highest since March 2020.

India's Active caseload presently stands at 99,974. Active cases constitute 0.29 per cent of the country's total Positive Cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 12,52,596 tests were conducted across the country. India has so far conducted over 64.60 crore cumulative tests.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.81 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 20 days now.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.69 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 61 days and less than 3 per cent for 96 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 73,63,706 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 126.53 crore as of Saturday morning. This has been achieved through 1,31,55,745 sessions.

A total of 391 deaths were reported across the nation taking the toll to 4,70,115, said the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Friday morning.

The recovery of 8,612 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,45,666. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, highest since March 2020.

India logged 9,765 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours, below the 10,000-mark for sixth day in a row, the Ministry of Health and Family welfare said on Thursday morning.

With the addition of 477 fatalities, the total death toll has climbed at 4,69,724.

The recovery of 8,548 people in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally of the recovered patients to 3,40,37,054. Consequently, the recovery rate stands at 98.35 per cent, the highest since March 2020.

India's active caseload presently stands at 99,763. It constitutes 0.29 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is lowest since March 2020.

Also in the same period, a total of 10,98,611 tests were conducted across the country pegging the cumulative tests at 64.35 crore.

Meanwhile, the weekly positivity rate at 0.85 per cent has remained less than 1 per cent for the last 18 days now.

The daily positivity rate stands at 0.89 per cent, which has also remained below 2 per cent for last 59 days and less than 3 per cent for 94 consecutive days now.

With the administration of 80,35,261 vaccine doses in the last 24 hours, India's Covid inoculation coverage has reached 124.96 crore as of Thursday morning.

This has been achieved through 1,29,79,828 in sessions.

India on Wednesday reported 8,954 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, a marginal rise over the previous day's count.
 
On Tuesday, India had reported 6,990 cases only.
 
The Wednesday's count of new cases continues to be below the 10,000-mark for the fifth day in a row.
 
A total of 267 deaths were registered in the last 24 hours taking the toll to 4,69,247, said the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Wednesday morning.
 
The recovery of 10,207 patients in the last 24 hours has also increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,28,506. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.36 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
