BJP's Vinod Tawde Allegedly Caught Red-handed while Distributing Cash by BVA, ECI Files FIR
Moneylife Digital Team 19 November 2024
Vinod Tawde, national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), was allegedly caught red-handed in Virar while distributing money to voters by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) activists. The BJP, however, denied the allegations, saying BVA chief Hitendra Thakur's claim was nothing more than a publicity stunt and that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was making these allegations as it is headed for defeat. Meanwhile, according to reports, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has lodged a first information report (FIR) against the BJP leader for violating the model code of conduct during elections.

Earlier, BVA activists gheraoed Mr Tawde in a hotel in Virar in Maharashtra's Palghar district for allegedly 'distributing' money.

A purported video of a face-off between Mr Tawde and BVA leaders and workers has surfaced on social media.

In the video, Mr Tawde, accompanied by the BJP candidate Rajan Naik from Nalasopara, was questioned by BVA activists over the distribution of money ahead of the polling slated for Wednesday. One of the activists showed a diary that was believed to have details about how much money was distributed and to whom.

Mr Thakur, the chief of BVA, alleged that the BJP general secretary was involved in the distribution of Rs5 crore. "I have received a diary and a laptop which contain the information about where and how much has been distributed," he claimed.

"Look at my phone book. How many incoming calls I have received from Tawde? I got information earlier that Mr Tawde is coming with Rs5 crore cash. We have the diary; let us see what legal action is taken," Mr Thakur says.

Mr Tawde, however, has denied all the allegations. In a post on X, he says, ""A meeting of workers was being held in the Nalasopara assembly constituency, where we were explaining the election day code of conduct, such as how to seal the voting machines, how the final seal should be applied, and the necessary steps in case of objections. I had gone there to explain these points. However, the workers of BVA believed we were distributing money. The Election Commission should conduct an inquiry, the police should investigate, and the CCTV footage should be examined. The ECI must carry out an impartial investigation."

An FIR has been filed against Mr Tawde, BJP's candidate, Mr Naik and around 250 others under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and Section 126 of the  Representation of the People Act,1951. The FIR, registered by Tulinj police, accuses them of holding a meeting after the campaign period ended, violating the model code of conduct during elections.

Allegations & FACTS after few hours were different!
(1) 5 Crores turned out to be around 9 Lakhs after few hours,
(2) That too was confiscated from HOTEL VIVANTA,
(3) NOT from Room or Cars or Hand bags in possession,
(4) CAMERAS in Hotel can point out FACTS for Police & EC officials

Finally, few DANCING PEOPLE around you with Currency notes in hands (not even 1 lakh probably) looks like PLANNED DRAMA!

All these dancing people with Currency nites in hands must be JAILED & INVESTIGATED to find true facts in front of EC or Courts, to stop mockery of system
