Apple Releases Updates for iOS, iPadOS to Fix iMessage Exploit Used by NSO's Pegasus
IANS 14 September 2021
Apple has released iOS 14.8 and iPadOS 14.8 for iPhone as well as for iPad users with an important security fix. Citizen Lab caught zero-click, zero day iMessage .gif files used by NSO Group's Pegasus spyware to exploit Apple's image rendering library

The iOS 14.8 update provides fixes for the CoreGraphics and WebKit vulnerabilities that Apple says may have been exploited.

The iOS 14.8 update can be downloaded for free and the software is available on all eligible devices over-the-air in the Settings app.

To access the new software, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Apple has also released a new version if iPadOS 14, reports MacRumors.

In addition, Apple has also released watchOS 7.6.2 with similar security fixes for Apple Watch Series 3 and later.

Apple is expected to launch 'iOS 15' to the public soon and new iPhone 13 units will likely ship with a pre-installed version of the operating system, the report said.

Historically, Apple has released new iOS versions about a week after its September event, but 'iOS 14' was released one day after Apple's September 15 "Time Flies" event in 2020.

This year's "California Streaming" event is on Tuesday, which means if 'iOS 14' is any indicator of the company's new release schedule, 'iOS 15' could come out as early as Wednesday.

at least it is not expected from credible people like you, who have taken up responsibility to create financial awareness to general public, your message may be lost in ads and people would not like to visit the website due to additional mental effort needed find and read the content. All we request is optima ads and not too many all over the website, which puts off the reader...

Dear Sir... Please note that there is a cost to running an office and getting information and paying salaries and rent and computers and utilities etc. You get most of the content FREE. When you say, it is not expected from us, we are wondering where you think the money for this will come from?? It is confusing. I am sure you also read Times of India where the first 4 to 8 pages sometimes are advertisements, despite a cover price for the paper! We need to survive (note we are not even talking about being HUGELY profitable) first. And the digital magazine pays a BIG price because of our independent, fair, honest and uncompromising journalism. And we are the ONLY publication that runs an NGO which helps people with financial literacy and grievance redress-- that is a separate organisation and we do NOT use donations received at the foundation to run Moneylife magazine!
