Now, those pesky telemarketing calls selling insurance, loans or any kind of product, have become a thing of the past? As from 1st August, the new ‘National Do Not Call’ registry has imposed fines ranging from Rs25,000 to Rs2.5 lakh, on telemarketers calling or sending messages on mobile phone numbers that are registered with it. A separate numbering series starting with ‘140’ is available to identify such calls. Experts say the move will hit banks, insurers and brokers the most.
